Why would you comment about Johnston getting pinned? Why not talk positive about the hometown boy and talk about how he beat one of the top ranking kids in the NATION at his weight? Palmer. Give me a break.

When a defending state champion loses, that is newsworthy. When a defending state champion is pinned, it's more so. We did not have much information because no one from Canon-McMillan called the results in.

BTW, over the past two years, there have been dozens of stories about Johnston that have been very positive.

Now that he is a state champion, his losses are more pronounced because he rarely loses. I will predict that there will be many more positive stories about him in our paper in the future.
