Chaussard to South Fayette
Rick Chaussard, who has been in the Fort Cherry wrestling program for 16 years, has taken over as head wrestling coach at South Fayette. Chaussard coached South Fayette two decades ago and moved to Fort Cherry after the SF program was discontinued.
Chaussard replaced Mike Ladick, who had his position opened in May. Ladick was in the corner when Nick Carr became South Fayette's first individual state champion. He won the 145-pound title in Class AA.
One reason for Chaussard's return to South Fayette was to coach his son, Kevin, who is a sophomore with the Lions.

Well, charleroi is trying to keep its wrestling alive dispite having only 4 wrestlers. Mark Caffrey was interviewed. A seasoned, respected coach with many winning seasons with McGuffey.
I doubt he understands he is entering a burning building.
Dorfler quit, cause he saw the the flames.
They should just drop the program, never was a power house and never will be.
They say the ulumni whats the program, its funny cause at charleroi's gym ther are more visitor fans, than home. PATHETIC.
God I feel for South Fayette's program. Look what Chaussard did to Fort Cherry's program, Always a bunch of underachievers. Rick is a nice guy but not a very motivating wrestling coach.
The last comments couldn't be more off base. As along time wrestling fan he's done more with less.Sometimes it not the coaches fault but he does take the blame for failure. His teams have been very competitive most times with 3 or 4 forfeits. I think he's done a very good job with what he had to work with. Best of luck with your new job.
The last comments reflect the whole attitude of Fort Cherry Athletics. Always satified with being at PAR and never striving to exceed ones abilities. Thats why they haven"t won anything for 50 years.
I guess 2 WPIAL Team Championships 2000 & 2002 in wrestling don't count
WOW!!!!!! THATS AWESOME. YOU GUYS COULD HANG WITH BURRELL.
WE DO!!!!!!
YEAH I SEE THAT BY THE LONG LIST OF PIAA INDIVIUAL STATE CHAMPS THAT THEY HAVE HAD OVER THE YEARS. REALLY IMPRESSIVE
YOU "WRASLIN" FANS FROM FC HAVE NEVER HAD A PIAA STATE CHAMP AND NEVER WILL
What ever will we do if we don't have a state champion The sun may never shine again.

Looks here that a certain family is trying to wreck the program so that their son can leave the school and be able to move to another school while being eligible to wrestle. Just move like you say you always are and leave Charleroi alone, we have 8th graders coming out, more recruits, and more than 4 kids on the team.
Interesting comment Ed, to criticize a school for simply trying to keep a program alive by hiring a new coach and bring new life to a program. Charleroi has talented wrestlers who need a good leader; maybe the program will grow into a successful in the future. Its definitely worth a shot for the future wrestlers. What is "PATHETIC" is for a parent to try to undermine a school program for selfish reasons while they are leaving anyway. You do know if you go through the front door at the matches and pay the small admission fee it also helps support school programs. Best of luck to Charleroi this season. Best of luck to Cody as well. Sometimes its best to just move on and not burn the bridges behind you.
I don't think anyone who is a werestling fan wants to see a program dropped without trying to make it work.
Wrestling takes committment; hats off to all the wrestlers and hope the new coach works out for Charleroi. The more programs that survive the better for the sport.
Ed will notice at Cannon Mac that his son won't be the best anymore and that lack of attention will eat Ed alive.
Cody is not going to Cannon-Mac. He is going to Char Houston.
Thanks for the update EW, please keep everyone posted on his current school selection process and if you wish the status of the eligability protest as well. Competition is tough at Canon-Mac.
"Cody is not going to Cannon-Mac. He is going to Char Houston."
Sorry to burst your bubble Char-Houston but CW is Cannon-Mac bound.
I guess we will see soon enough.
Who really cares? this is supposed to be a high school sport - kids competing with friends they grew up with. Occassionally people have to move, but now we have parents reloacating just to position their kids where think there is perfect scenario, then what; move again next year? There really is more to life - if the kids work hard, they will succeed. PA schools are fighting to keep academic and athletic programs the politicians are taking away funding for and someone dares to say a school is better off just dropping a program. Very sad perspective.
confirmed CW was at CM orientation. Not saying right or wrong Just reporting a fact.
Thanks for the update about CW coming and goings, why don't you get a life and stop worrying about CW.
Time to move on. Good luck to all even cody
I read an interesting letter recently written by EW. Don't see the reason for the letter. It is online.
Fort Cherry has one of the best youth programs. To say Chaussard did more with less is off base. All his wrestlers were just as good when they entered the program as when they left. That is why Guidi is wrestling DIII. He was DI prospect in 9th grade.
He couldnt survive D1 even if he has the talent. Good kid but that type of work ethic is just not there. Plus other reasons beside athletics go into picking a college
if Ed is this big headed douche bag, why would he leave a small school where Cody gets all the attention and go to a school with wrestlers as the same caliber? he doesn't want attention. he wants what is better for his son. Cody is a state champion as a freshman and a runner-up last year. what more can you get? and if he does want to go to CM for wrestling only, SO BE IT! who would blame him for going to a school with higher expectations? get a life.
