Wrestling Classic notes

Four new members were inducted into the Southwestern Pennsylvania Hall of Fame: former Shady Side Academy coach Tim Giel; former Kittanning coach Rich Boggs; Jarrod King, a two-time state champion for Connellsville and NCAA champion for Edinboro; and Scott Logan, a longtime official.

Bob and Sue Siar were given the Kurt Nellis Memorial Award, given to a contributor to the sport of wrestling.

Chris Mary, who led Canon-McMillan to an unprecedented season of winning a third WPIAL Team Tournament title and sweeping both PIAA team titles, coached the WPIAL and Pennsylvania teams.

Kevin Holley, who was a state runnerup for Trinity in 1983, is supporting the Classic Committee and was at Sunday's dual meets. Holley lost to Mike Kirkling of Hempfield, 5-4, in the heavyweight final that season. He went on to play football at Purdue.
