WPIAL pushes C-H incident to January meeting

The WPIAL Board of Control put an incident that took place during the Chartiers-Houston Wrestling Tournament on the January agenda for review.
Tim O’Malley, executive director of the WPIAL, said the organization asked for, and received, reports from both schools about the altercation.
Chartiers-Houston police said a physical altercation erupted between Rich Hall, the president of the Chartiers-Houston School Board, and Josh Mollica, an assistant wrestling coach for South Fayette during the tournament, which was held Dec. 7-8.
"We put it on the January agenda for review," said O'Malley, "and we will see what direction to take."
Chartiers-Houston police said no charges were filed.

What a shame these 2 programs at the top of the rankings just can't show any class. So sad these are the people entrusted to help raise our kids. Not to mention running our school as head of the school board. Both gentleman should resign immediately.

You obviously don't know the story. The only person that should resign is the CH guy. Josh did nothing was cheering during a close match that didn't include a sf wrestler. When he was underhooked thrown into the wall and punched. He didn't retaliate didn't throw a punch at all. He should be commended for not fighting back and walking away. He chose not to press charges. If that was me you can bet guy would have lead out of his own gym in handcuffs.

People shouldn't comment when they have no idea what happened. The SF coach was watching a match when he was grabbed from behind by the gentleman from CH and then sucker punched in the face. Never once did he lay a hand on the 60+ yr old man. The excuse the man from CH gave was he thought the coach was making fun of him, which was completely false. Furthermore, the SF coach decided not to press charges because he didn't want to cause further embarrassment to the CH school board member. If anything, he should be commended for the way he handled the situation.

He didnt press charges because there is more to the story; he knows it and you know it. Do you wnat some cheese with that whine. You all need to get over it. We have a Judicial System for the purpose of justice. Someone assaults you for no reason, anyone responsible adult should presss charges and let the judicial system determine what is fair and just outcome. NOT a bunch of anonymous posts on MAT MATTERS. Most You are preachng to a very small choir...

HE KNOWS HE DIDNT DO ANYTHING WRONG, AND HE I MEAN JOSH. WHAT IS EXPLAINED ABOVE IS WHAT HAPPENED, THERES NOT MORE TO THE STORY AT ALL, HE DIDNT WANT TO PRESS CHARGES JUST TO TRY AND END IT BUT THIS IS EVEN BIGGER THAN IT WOULD OF BEEN IF HE HAD, BUT MAYBE HE WILL DECIDE TO AFTER ALL OF THIS.

It is so the most meaningless thing I've read on here; a bunch of people sticking up for this grown man. I think this whole thing is rediculous. Either press charges or drop it. Who really cares. Besides, I know for fact this innocent bystander was running his mouth.

If its meaningless don't post anything yourself.. That makes no sense for you to call it meaningless but then put your two cents in.. And how do you think he was running his mouth? After he got punched? Yeah anyone would. But before the punch and grab up? Not a chance your trying to twist the whole situation

You're correct, this is America; we have a judicial system to punish individuals who break the law. Sorry buy the WPIAL is not the judicial system. Assault is against the law. If you choose to take the higher road and not report it, then keep your mouth shut and drop it. Pretty simple. All you people are treating him like a poor defenseless martyr. Maybe he learned his lesson about running his mouth.

Why does a man that got assaulted, not press charges, and took the high road have to be held accountable for anything? Shame on all of you that are saying negative things about this SF coach. I am not from either school, but I was there and I am dumbfounded right now.

If he got hit in the face with his head against the wall, he could have been dazed, right? I put myself in that situation, an I might become less shocked and more angry as time passed. Getting angry about something like that is the only emotionally healthy or even SANE response to "something like that". Further, if I'm involved in "something like that" my boss is going to want to talk to me Monday morning, regarless of whether or not charges are filed. The judicial system is not the only system in play here. If the alleged victim doesn't press charges, that really doesn't necessarily end it.

To the first responder on this thread: I haven't heard anyone defame the two programs but you. CH & SF wrestling don't look classless by any version of the story I'm reading. These teams respect each other and won't try to escalate this at their match, guaranteed. They WILL show class, and it will be a great match.

Just a reminder: If you want to comment, remember to keep it civil. I don't post comments that are crude, possibly libelous or fall to the level of name-calling.

obviously you're referring to a post you deleted where someone called you a crude name, since there are a few cases on here where name calling is tolerated. Frankly, this topic is like temper bait. I'm surprised it's as civil as it is.

Anyway, are you going to pick Powerade, or any other tournaments? I think CM can finish second again, and we can halve a good (not great, but good) showing for the WPIAL.

Anonymous 3:21, No, there were some posts that made a good argument at the beginning but ended with a slam or crude remark. They never got posted. I just wanted to make sure everyone is aware of the rules.

I notice all of the posts list time, as in hour:minute:seconds, but the seconds are always at 00. Either everyone posts exactly on the minute by chance, or the times are wrong. If you round to the nearest minute, why is it necessary to list seconds?

I remember that well! You'd have a picture from a match, nothing else, and then there'd be three comments that were deleted right under it! What the heck could someone have said about a picture! I have to admit I couldn't wait to read this blog to see what was going on, it was nutty
