Trinity makes a good hire
The hiring of Mike Marino to replace Jeff Bricker as Trinity wrestling coach is a good move. Marino has been with the program since 1977 and the bet here is if you cut him open, he would bleed blue and white. He has been the junior high coach for most of his stay at Trinity and helped turn many unpolished athletes into champions.
Marino's name has come up before when there were openings but he has enjoyed his time in the junior high program and didn't want to give that up. But this was an opportunity he couldn't pass up, especially with his brother Butch pushing him to take the position.
Butch, Paul Reihner and Andy Migyanko are going to stay on as assistant coaches and Mike said he is getting interest from athletes who had left the program but now want to return. That's a good start.

Congratulations to Coach Mike on a well deserved hiring as the Head Coach. He is a great coach and a great man. Trinity Wrestling as a whole will be better with him at the helm. Good Luck Coach!
This was a good hire. Mike deserves the job. I do think Trinity missed the boat though. Chris Day was a perfect fit for this job.
A Day must have written the last statement. Anyone that says hiring Mike Marino was missing the Chris Day Boat is Clinically insane! Mike Marino is an Elite coach over the last freakin 32 years. Get real Day Blogger.
There is a school of thought that says a younger coach would be a better fit for the program. Marino has 5 years left tops. Chris Day should be the front runner when that job opens again.
Andy Migyanko will get it. Mark my words. He has stuck around and helped there as an assistant and is paying his dues while Day takes any school that will let him be a head coach now. As per your school of thought on younger coach being a better fit - Get Freakin Real. Gus DeAugustino coached North Allegheny when they were probably one of the toughest teams to ever compete in PA, Ex: 2 Dolde Connellsville did a pretty good job with that program over the years and he was darn near elderly. Day should stay at Burgettstown.
