Wiercioch, Carr to finals

Charleroi freshman Cody Wiercioch won a 10-0 decision over Mike Testen of Athens to advance to the 152-pound finals of the PIAA Class AA Wrestling Championships in Hershey. Wiercioch can become the first state champion in the school's history if he can defeat Kyle Dehaut of Bethlehem Catholic, who edged Travis Mickillop of Burrell, 7-6, in the other semifinal match at that weight.
Nick Carr can become the first "official" state champion for South Fayette if he can beat Jordan Moss of Sharon in the 145-pound finals. Carr rolled past Phil Racciato of Pen Argyle, 11-4. Mark McKnight, who lived in the South Fayette school district but wrestled in a co-op with Chartiers Valley, won the 119-pound title in 2003. Carr can become the first state champion under the South Fayette banner.
Fort Cherry's Sam Guidi was pinned in 1:30 by Eric Hess, a defending state champion from Benton, in the 160-pound semifinals. Jeff Tarley of Beth-Center lost 3-1 in ultimate tiebreaker when Joe Chittester of Ridgway reversed him with 16 seconds remaining.

If Tarley would have taken his weight class he would have been Beth Center first state champ. The best B.C. has ever placed is 2nd place @ states

Fort Cherry has never had one either. they have had two 2nd place finishes though.

Could Nick Carr be South Fayettes first?

True fact about BC. They have about 5 or 6 runner-ups, but no champ. I think the current coach, Colbourn, was one of the 2nd place finishers.
