Hey Joe any idea of what is going on at Beth Center? I heard they opened up all wrestling positions at the past board meeting.
No, but that has been an unstable situation for the past few seasons because of work schedules. I'll look into it.
I heard that some of the wrestlers are transfering to other schools. Is there any truth to this?
Havent heard that. But with it being so difficult to find wrestling coaches today why would the school district clean house and get rid of the entire coaching staff. Had to be some in-house problems????? Of course Beth Center is not a powerhouse wrestling program.
A wrestling team powerhouse no. A school with a history of stud individuals yes. This team next year does have 4 studs that any school in the tri county would love to have on there roster.
Can we team up with another school with low numbers and make a full team?
Im not to familiar with the program but I can only think of two solid wrestlers on their roster in Tarley and their 103 pounder. Do they have someone coming up from the junior high program that is solid? I went to the Charleroi match this year and they had close to 20 wrestlers on the junior high team.
I'm told by someone close to the situation that Chuck is going to be rehired.
If I was the coach I would look for another coaching position. Fire me and then regret it and rehire me. That would be a slap in the face of all of my hard work. Is there any other coaching positions that are open head/asst in the tri county?
Colborn would never do that. If he has the opportunity to be hired back he will do it. His son wrestles for the team and Tarley has a shot at being Beth centers first state champion. Besides that he doesnt have an extensive wrestling coaching career. He would have a very difficult time finding another wrestling position at the high school level.
How big is his son? Tarley is 260 pounds, i would go where my boy has the best workout partners. Does anyone know why he was fired to begin with?
There were a ton of in-house problems and BC's numbers have been terrible. They have only had 6-7 wrestlers on the varsity team for the last couple of years. i also heard that there was a possible WPIAL investigation into the program. Enough to wear out his welcome with the school board.
Wpial investigation about what?
The lack of wrestlers has nothing to do with Chuck. The numbers in a 50 mile area are all down. What you have is a bunch of LAZY kids.
Thats BS!! Numbers were up this year for many of our local wrestling squads, especially in Washington County. There is no reason except for one that BC cannot field a competitive team in AA. Poor coaching
If he is a poor coach why will he be rehired? I would move on if i were him and his family, to another school.
Lazy kids, not poor coaching. Baseball, football, does not make a state champ in wrestling. Can't push these kids cause they will cry and quit. CM,CH are the only teams that might had a full squad in Washington Co. Wash High,Ringgold,Trinity,Charleroi,Bentworth,Beth-Center,McGuffey,Fort Cherry I can go on, no full squad. So your BS, 11:29 know your facts
Know your facts!! BC wrestling has not filled a lineup for years and every team you mentioned above fielded a team of ten wrestlers or better with several making the team tourney. Tarley would have easily won a state title this year with a better coach. As for pushing kids. BC kids are some of the toughest around if treated with respect
Tarley would have won states if he put some summer time wrestling in. He has the chance to wrestle for the Quest Team this June at Disney Duals. Says he will show for practice but never does. Many have tried to contact him but does not seem to want to better himself. His Loss.
Couldnt agree with you more!!!!
These kids nowadays. If i lose it's my coaches fault, if you push me to hard i will quit. When did this always put the blame on everybody but me attitude take hold in this country?
