Nelson resigns from Charleroi

Dave Nelson has submitted a resignation letter as the head wrestling coach at Charleroi High School. Nelson coached one season at Charleroi, leading the Cougars to a 2-9 record, including 1-4 mark in Section 2B in Class AA. He previous coached at Beth-Center.
Nelson had three wrestlers earn berths to the PIAA Championships in Josh Kwasny, Nick Gavazzi and Aaron Toth.
Nelson said there was a difference of opinion with the administration over salary.

The wrestlers Nelson led to Hershey last year were Aaron Toth, Josh Kwasney and Nick Gavazzi. Not Zach Swarrow. He is from Beth Center.

I could have bet money on some coaches sticking around, the school needs a person that will stick. Someone with something to offer. We dont need no co-op just the right person setting aside personal issues getting someone who has been there with these kids regardless of differences of opinion, These kids deserve that much from this school, some of these kids have been wrestling since they where 4-5 yrs old. The program need a combined overhall, Nelson said he wanted to work from the ground up, It starts in the youth program and if the school wants to save money these kids can fundraise and keep the schools financial requirement for the sport to a minimum.
