Three in preseason rankings

Three Canon-McMillan wrestlers are ranked in the preseason wrestling rankings by Intermatwrestling.com. Cody Wiercioch is No. 2 at 170 behind Chance Marsteller of Kennard-Dale. Solomon Chishko is third at 145 and Connor Schram is fourth at 126.
Canon-McMillan is ranked sixth in the top 50 teams.
Complete rankings can be found on the website www.intermatwrestle.com.

Also, near the end of the month, I will have a breakdown of each of the Washington-Greene County wrestling teams, followed by a look at the top WPIAL teams and wrestlers. So stay tuned.

unFORTUNATE BREAKDOWN OF ALL WSHINGTON-GREENE TEAMS: CM is good, everyone else questionable. AA team Jeff Morgan might be second best! Down year for local wrestling teams. Dinner at the local pizza joint would now take twice as long as the Wash Hi-Trinity match.

What are those pre-season weights based on? I tnink Cody actually has a chance, BTW.

I don't know how they based the weight classes, but I am intrigued as you are with a possible Wiercioch-Marsteller match in the finals.

Is CM really that great? If they are #6 now, they must have been top 3 last year.

I have to admit to not being a rankings guy. I don't know how they determine these things, but I do know that the two best teams in the state last year were Canon-McMillan and Central Dauphin because I saw them with my own eyes.

Wyoming Seminary is supposed to always be the top team in the state these days, for what that's worth. They could, of course, always compete PIAA & prove it. Cuz the CL of Philly always had the best basketball in the state too, until they actually had to play the rest of the state.

'Itch (I refuse to type that full name} does have a point about depth. You can't have more than two or three of our teams being able to go to the round of 8 in the team tournament (the RESPECT round), can you?

About dinner: Meet me at the Upper Crust before the match & I'll even finish yours if you're not done on time.

No, I rank all the local wrestlers during the season. What I meant by that comment was that I take national rankings with a grain of salt.

I don't know how you can rank wrestling teams from around the nation when there are so many different variables to these teams: competition, tradition, history, etc. I also don't know how you can do that when you don't see the teams in person. I'm pretty sure the person who did the national rankings have never seen some of these teams.

BTW, I will begin my preview of local teams at the end of the week.

Hell to the yeah! That personal touch has made Joe's coverage, not just rankings, something that keeps it a little more interesting. You see him matside more than some refs over the Winter, and even he has a little help for just 2 1/2 counties. National rankings can't possibly give you that kind of insight or anything even close.

Looking forward to the preview & beyond s always.

As to the Wash & Trinity comment, true, but we need ro support, not pile on.
