Wiercioch commits to Pitt

Cody Wiercioch, a defending state champion from Canon-McMillan High School, will wrestle at Pitt next year.
Wiercioch chose Pitt over Penn State, North Carolina, Maryland and Virginia and is expected to wrestle at either 174 or 184.
“I visited the campus last week, and it just felt right,” said Wiercioch, who has a 123-4 record. “The coaching staff is amazing. I really like them.”
Wiercioch is ranked ninth in the nation at any weight by Intermat and joins Edgar Bright of St. Edwards in Cleveland and Ryan Solomon of Milton in a strong recruiting class for Pitt.
Wiercioch is a two-time Powerade champion and captured PIAA  Class AA gold and silver medals while wrestling at Charleroi. Wiercioch transferred to Canon-McMillan for his junior season and helped the Big Macs sweep the PIAA team titles in Hershey. He had a crucial decision in Canon-McMillan’s 28-25 victory over Central Dauphin in the PIAA Class AAA team semifinals.
