Stock up, stock down

Over the weekend, the Tri-CADA wrestling tournament was held. Here is one opinion on whose stock rose and whose stock fell.

Stock Up

Brendan Howard, Jefferson-Morgan
He had an underwhelming performance in the PowerAde Christmas Wrestling Tournament, taking 6th at 120. But he won the weight class in the Tri-CADA event and beat Austin McDermitt of Burgettstown in the process.

Camden Fontenot, Canon-McMillan
Fontenot came into the Tri-CADA unseeded but won the 126-pound weight class, beating top-seeded Hunter Neely of Bentworth.

Shane Piper, Waynesburg
Piper also entered the Tri-CADA tournament unseeded but knocked off the Nos. 1 and 2 seed in winning the title.

Bill Bowlen, Jefferson-Morgan
Bowlen took some hits early in the season, losing to Colin McCracken of Waynesburg in a dual meet and failing to place at  PowerAde. But he looked strong in winning the 170 weight class at Tri-CADA.

Stock Down

Logan Henderson, Waynesburg
Second seed at 126, Henderson fell into the consolations on the first day of the Tri-CADA after a loss to Fontenot. He did come back and take third.

Nick Kusich, Avella
The top seed at 152, Kusich was knocked into consolations after a loss to Piper but battled back to finish third.

Ian Wolfe, Jefferson-Morgan
Wolfe came into the heavyweight division as the top seed but lost his second bout to Brendan Furman of Canon-McMillan. Wolfe finished third.
