Who should be thankful?
The lack of wrestlers in the Section 4-AA Tournament was appalling. It got even worse when 11 pulled out right before the start. But with every bit of bad news, someone profits and this tournament was no different. So I present to you the wrestlers who have a lot to be thankful for, particularly for qualifying for next week's WPIAL Championships.
Joey Schneider, Chartiers-Houston, 135 pounds, 12-15 record, pinned an 11-15 kid from South Park to earn third place and wrestle another day.
Martin Walker, South Park, 145, 10-19, pinned a 5-15 wrestler from C-H to take third.
Keith Watson, West Greene, 152, 13-17, decisioned a 10-16 kid for third place.
John Emerick, South Park, 171, won third place with a 7-9 record.
Eddie Zeglen, Jeff-Morgn, came into the tournament 4-8 and finished second. . . . because there were only two heavyweights in the weight class.
Danny Herrington, West Greene, pinned Zeglen, wins title with 11-12 record.
In life, timing is everything.
