19 Comments:
Rommes was #2 last week, loses to the Toth and now is out of the rankings? Odd.
He will handle Vahaly. He is bigger, faster and stronger as well as a better wrastler.
That's a fair point and I labored over that weight class the most. Elias' last three wins came over Class AAA wrestlers with a combined 52 wins. Vahaly made it to the finals of the Tri-County Tournament and finished ahead of Rommes, and Toth won it.
Four good wrestlers for three spots. I'm sure it will change again.
That's funny if Rommes is bigger, faster and stronger than Vahaly shouldn't he be in another weight class? Vahaly lost 1-0 to Toth in the finals. Rommes wasn't bigger, faster and stronger when he wrestled Toth now was he. This is a very competitive weight class and Joe is right it will change again. I have to agree that Rommes should be ranked however. This Elias' kid hasn't won anything. And as for wins over triple A kids. I believe both Vahaly and Rommes beat some good triple A wrestlers in the tricounty. My official ranking would be: #1 Toth, #2 Vahaly(due to 1-0 loss to Toth in final) #3 Rommes(lost to Toth by bigger margin and placed under Vahaly in tricounty. Rommes beat Vahaly earlier with a last second rally for a 2-1 victory but the loss to Toth was not impressive at all. It's what have you done for me lately not, what have you done last month. Vahaly and Rommes will meet again and settle this the old fashioned way on the mat. It will be a good one I'm sure.
UNLESS HONESTLY PINNED YOU CAN'T USE SCORES TO COMPARE WRESTLERS.
IS SAM GUIDI THE MOST BORING WRESTLER IN AA?
I NEED A PILLOW WHEN HE WRESTLES.
HIS MATCHES ARE LIKE TAKING TYLENOL PM.
what sam guidi are you watching? sam's matches are very exciting matches with him usually pinning or winning by a wide margin. you are an idiot.
Sam would have beaten saylor if he didn't try that throw in the first period. he pulled saylor on top of him and gave up five, and that was the match.
saylor got his ass kicked by sam. the score says saylor won but sam worked saylor over especially on top. sam tried the throw in the first and that cost him. the rest of the match saylor ran and got beaten on bottom by sam throwing in the legs and killing saylor.
i agree, how can Rommes be so much bigger than Vahaly if the weigh in at the same class? they will meet again this weekend at the Burgettstown tournament. it'll be a good one.
YEAH...1-0 RIDEOUTS AND TIE UPS FOR 2 MINUTES IS EXCITING.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZ
AND KIEFER WAS SICK TOO.
So Rommes beat Vanhaly when they wrestled head to head but because Vahaly only lost to Toth 1-0 he should be ranked ahead of him?
If that makes sense to you I don't know what to say.
Head to head Rommes won and should be ranked ahead of Vahaly. Case closed.
I was very impressed with Kyle Colborn (BC 171) at the Tri-County tourney. He kind of came out of nowhere to finish 3rd. Where is the Ellis kid (171) from Waynesburg. His record is like 24-2 and they have been to Powerade, BAttlefield Duals and Tri-COunty, so you can't say they haven't had any competition,
Colborn can wrestle JO's this year.
The NY Jets beat the Indianapolis Colts earlier in the year also. Will you be putting your money on the Jets this weekend? It doesn't really matter who won in December, January or even February. All that counts is how they do at the end of the year. Rankings are opinions and everyone has one. They'll meet again and maybe a few more times before the year is over. Can't wait. (RE:Vahaly vs Rommes)
Ellis is tough, he made it to wpials as a freshman and last year his section weight was loaded and did not make it out. Last year he had wins over Durbin from WG (major), and he pinned cody Catalina at tri county, 4th at states.
To the guy who thinks you can't judge a match by the score unless you pin them is crazy. Pinning someone sometimes is a lot easier than dominating them with a final score. I guess you never heard of catching someone. It happens all the time. I would rather run up a score and show total domination than to be considered as possibly getting lucky or catching them. And for all you so called fans who zzzzzz to a 1-0 score do not appreciate how close the competition is and that defense does infact win championships.
Defense wins championships?
In football but not in wrestling.
So when you win 1-0 you are just a lazy bum then. Give me a break. Every move that you try has a counter to it and the person who can stop another person from achieving there goal and still be able to score themselves is going to go a hell of alot farther than someone who tries to score all the time.
You know nothing about championship wrestling.
A good wrestler is ALWAYS on the offensive and will dictate the pace of the match and keep their opponent countering. You focus on defense while my kids are taking yours to the mat.
You go ahead and teach your boys to shoot their doubles and singles while I teach mine snap downs, drags and 1/4 nelsons. You teach your boys sitouts and standups and I will teach mine hand fighting skills. When on top you can teach your boys breakdowns to pinning combonations and I will teach mine cheap tilts and riding techniques and will see who wins. A good defense is not waiting for the other man to make the first move but how to control your opponent and making him waste his energy by trying your so called offensive moves... only a select few wrestlers can go 100% for 6 minutes against quality wrestlers. But if you can control your opponent and wait for him to tire then the advantage will be yours in the end. When you watch two quality wrestlers the scores are usually low and close for this reason alone. So no I do not agree your boys will beat mine with your offensive fluries. Intelligence wins championships not muscle and stamina. Obviously you need all three to win but going George Forman on a Mohammad Ali just isn't going to cut it. Guess you never heard of the ropa dopa. Maybe the word defensive wrestling is the wrong word here but that's what I call it.
