Canon-McMillan wins team title

Canon-McMillan reconnected with its past Saturday night in the finals of the PIAA Class AAA Wrestling Championships.
The Big Macs got two second-place finishes, three thirds and one seventh place to capture the individual tournament’s team title.
It is the first time a District 7 team won the team title since Connellsville was co-champion with Council Rock South in the 2005 tournament.
Canon-McMillan finished with 92 team points, 13 more than Pittsburgh Catholic’s 79. Central Dauphin was third with 78 points, Solanco took fourth with 63 and Parkland rounded out the top five with 56 points.
Canon-McMillan won the 1992 team title with five placewinners.
Bryan Matusic was a runner-up at 160, two weight classes after Keilan O’Daniel lost in the 145-pound finals. Tim Rohaley (140) and Mark Angle (103) each captured fourth place, and Bobby Owens was sixth at 119 pounds.
This year’s Canon-McMillan team got silver-medal performances from defending state champion Connor Schram at 112 and Nick Catalano at 145, and third-place finishes from Colton Shorts at 103, Solomon Chishko at 130 and Cody Klempay at heavyweight.

So, Joe, did they win the PIAA title, or didn't they?

If they DID, your previous posting about this topic was hot air.

If they DIDN'T, this is the expected "I covered a PIAA Championship" puffer.

You continue to try to have it both ways. Gotta be a great seat to sit in.

Hey a title is a title. When we won it in `92 they didn`t have the duals. This team is now among the elite in our great schools history. Just acknowledge it and be proud of the KIDS for winning this title. You guys that chime in i`ll bet have never been on a wrestling mat.Anons are weak people to me.
Great job to my Big Macs for a great season, and unfortunatly for the rest of the state, YOU AIN`T SEEN NOTHIN YET. Print it Joe

"An interesting question for area wrestling fans is this: If Canon-McMillan, with its five champions and six qualifiers to the state tournament, happens to win the team tournament title in Hershey this weekend, which team is the true team champion? Canon-Mac or Central Dauphin, which captured the first team title in last month's tournament.
Just askin'."

So, Joe, which is it? Is Canon-McMillan the TRUE team champion or not? Just askin'."

The PIAA is the real champion every year for being able to sponser two events that generate a sh-- load of cash. Otherwise who cares? I'd rather see a few individual champions and no team title than seeing what I saw this weekend. Schram throwing some ridiculous move and getting caught and Klempay losing to a 6'5" 215 pound string bean. What a te3rrible way to end the season.

B.G.---Love the Macs. The issue is with flip-flop, both-sides Joe.

It has long been established that you can't have your cake and eat it, too. Joe doesn't get that.

He protests that the "Real" team champion can only be determined at either the Duals or the Indys, not both.... I just want Joe to declare which it is and stick with it.

Don't have a team and don't really care. I call it like I see it. Schram blew his chance and so did Klempay. I guess second and third place is good enough. Can't wait to see Canon-Mac win the so called team title again without one first place finisher. The pathetic ones are you guys who actually care. By the way a team title would be when two teams go head to head. But wait, you guys didn't win that one. So what actually did you acomplish. That's like Pitt tonight loosing to Butler after being a number 1 seed and having a great season. Don't really feel like they acomplished anything this year either. Year in and year out the WPIAL gets dominated by the eastern teams at states. I root for whoever represents our area and want and expect more from your great wrestling school with it's own personal club in it's back yard. Get over your school spirit BS and find a way to win the damn thing outright. You have the facility, you have the money, you even have the coach so what is the problem Big Mac lovers. And if we should treat them as KIDS then why is their a blog site and why are you on it. Now if you guys could read into what I was saying instead of representing your school you would understand that an individual tournament should only be that when, their is a team tournament as well. The ackolades are nice but, their not the same. Winning the team portion of an individual tourny would be like crowning the NFL champion based on stats alone without ever playing the game. Team is head to head. Individual is individual. Since you guys acomplished so much greatness in your lives you could understand that their are different pressures representing your team vs. representing yourself. So, to answer your question as to wether CM is the true team champion I would have to say NOOOOO. Just remember Central Dauphin had 2 finalists as well and had one champion. Also, remember you guys didn't take second, third or even fourth in the team portion so how could you logically say that you have the right to be the team state champion. That's why you play the game. And you are right you will be in the same position next year as well. Pitt's basketball team can say that. Infact they can say that alot longer than you guys and just for conversation purposes Who do you think has had a better basketball program over the last decade Pitt or WVU? WVU has made it to the final four and the elite eight more times than Pitt but, Pitt has an overall better record and more BIG EAST victories than WVU. So who is better? I guess it's all in who you root for. When you get to be my age and are able to think logically without letting your passions affect your judgement you just might be able to have a conversation with someone other than your good ol boys from CM. Untill then enjoy the summer talking about wrestling. I'll be enjoying my family I can go to church if I want to hear nothing but NICE things being said. NICE things ain't going to motivate you to strive for more. It's only going to keep things at status quo. So what again did all you posters acomplish again. I don't recall a Dami or a Krenzelak winning it all either. In fact I think you guys are trying to relive your youth through these kids. Do you guys think that Schram and Klempay are happy with only winning the team portion of an individual tournament? Looks like you guys are. Don't get me wrong I acknoledge and respect everything CM has done this year but, wouldn't be nice to just go out and dominate like I felt you should have. Just once.

WOW!!! I actually thought you were never gonna stop with that long boring attempt to degrade our accomplishment. You look at our season as if it`s a failure. Yea we lost head to head to Central Dauphin.SO WHAT.We came back strong in the ind. tourney, and i`m proud of that.Plus you coming on here singling out Schram and Klempay for not winning a state title, believe me they`re not happy and i`m disapointed for them not at them. Hey heres an idea.Be a man and go tell them and there families your displeasure of how they wrestled.See how far you get with that.Cody might break your arm off and hit yah with it. I really am looking foward to next season because i believe anonymous idiots as yourself will be eating there words when we do DOMINATE the the entire state.Have a nice spring and summer ANON, Cause thats all you got. You do know ENVY is one of the 7 deadly sins.Anyhow great job to my Nephew Mark Dami and the entire Canon-Mac team on a great season. And a big shout out to all the Area 4 champs and runner-ups on there way to States Great job kids. Later Haters.

Add the points up ... CM won. They are State Champs. Just like PSU just did in the NCAA with almost the same fashion. Hey, they both won. They wrestled by the current rules of the sport - points added up - and they won the State Title. CM and their Fans, Families & Friends are allowed to celibrate their hard work and victory(s). Great Job to the Boys and their coaches. Job well done! CM is the best team in the Area and will be for the next two to three years. Get use to it 10:49. 99% of the whole team has been working on this goal for 10 plus years. Team Tourny results will be even stronger for CM next year.

Jason Dami was two time state place winner in very difficult weights. Connor schram is two time finalist out of two years, 1 time champ. Cody Klempay ended his season with one loss and currently has around 113 for his career putting him in the running for the most in Cm's tradition laden program's history. Yes it is true , I ,Brian Krenzelak did not do much as an individual but have dedicated my life to the youth of my community and communities all around. I have never put down any young person and have tried my best these last 14 years to help all of wrestling in our area and throughout state and country in any way I can. I have worked with countless individuals from any school willing to let me but especially love Canon McMillan where I have been raised and still live. Nothing any one debates on this forum will ever take away the accomplishments of our tremendous team and its outstanding individuals.I feel our best years are still ahead of us and God willing we will all be around to continue to relish these moments. At least the State Championship was brought back to washington county which anyone reading these forums should truly appreciate.
