Super 32 results

Canon Mac's Cody Wiercioch took 6th place ce at 182 pounds in the Super 32 wrestling tournament Solomon Chishko was 5th at 145. Schram was entered but did not compete. Not sure why. Wiercioch had a bad ankle and forfeited in the wrestle backs.

Remember, this is not a required event to participate in for wrestlers. Some will, others won't. I would not read much into it. The first day of wrestling practice is still 2 1/2 weeks away.

Get your school correct. It's Trinity Catholic in Harrisburg, not Canon-Mac Catholic near Canonsburg, who as I understand hired a full-time trophy-case cleaner this summer and extra security to monitor all fire exits for "sneaky" propped doors. No more sneaky, sneaky at Char "Le-Roy". Amen.

Entry Fee:

$6 x 4 People = $24
$24 x 3 Home Matches = $72
$144 x 2 years = $144

If I were the Canon Mac AD: I would ask for the $144 family admission up front, to ensure no "misunderstandings" this year. I know one guy who would be shaking in his boots.

Good point Joe. Perhaps we can take a look at a section by section preview based off of last years underclassmen and maybe throw in some freshmen who could possibly make an impact. Or, maybe look at the rule changes for this year, (e.g. change in when the wrestles are considered off the mat or the new rule on timeouts and choice of starting position after a break in action).

Just trying to help!

Good luck to ALL the local wrestlers!! It is a very long, grueling season. No other high school sport even comes close in terms of the amount of hard work and dedication required to succeed. May all your hard work pay off!

P.S. This comment is grammatically correct...for the most part.

Who does EW blame for that loss? Coach? Poor practice partners? Cuz that's what he blamed the losses on in this blog last year after Johnstown and Hershey. I tell ya it's a crying shame the way the old man treats that boy. Every parent feels bad after their kid loses. Sometimes we even get angry because we thought he could have done more to win. Then we realize the kid works his butt off to make it far and so do the other kids at that stage in the season. The only thing the kids need after a tough loss like that is a hug and to hear the words: "Good job son. I'm proud of you."

Saturday, November 05, 2011 7:47:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

wiercioch will get that, "good job, son" regardless of the win or loss at the next level. coaches empathize because they've been on the mat in both victory and defeat and know how it feels. I hear the dad never actually wrestled, but don't really know. Losing is tough and some parents unfortunately just expect way too much.

It doesn't matter what school he represented which year and won what. I want to know what happened to him that he had to forfeit? Was it because of his ankle or what? Also did the state approve his transfer? These are the topics I want to talk about. Obviously he has moved into another district. I'm still interested in him as an individual wrestler. I don't agree with his move but, that is old news now. Lets talk wrestling. And to the Burrell father, you don't need to transfer to CM. Just go to Quest if you want the best of both worlds. I think Burrell isn't half bad themselves. Didn't they have a transfer from Florida last year. Not bein a smart ass just asking a question? Also, what wrestling school do all those Burrell boys go to? Again, not being smart. Just making conversation.

IN GENERAL-Looking forward to the upcoming season. I'm fairly new to this blog and see comments pertaining to low team numbers reflecting negatively on wrestlers. In my experience every wrestler would love to have a two-deep squad and multiple training partners; just doesn't happen. If you have that situation, be very grateful. The kids, no matter how many show up, have my utmost respect. This is a grueling and extremely demanding sport, hence the lower numbers. It takes hard work even if you're not as successful or on top of the podium; you can't just "sit the bench" in wrestling, we all know that. Best wishes to all the wrestlers in 2011-12.

Cody placing 1st last year and sixth this year has nothing to do with him relocating to CM. Charleroi is a garbage wrestling school, always has been and always will be. All you people that are mad, are just jealous. CM is the most dominating wrestling team ever. Most wins in PIAA history (fact). He wanted to be part of a great team and a great program. All you parents who talk bad about cm wish your son could be a part of a Hall of Fame program. There is nothing you can say that will change the fact that CM is the all time wins leader in PIAA. Keep your crying and watch the CM be victorious like we have been since the 30's.
