Retherford ineligible for season

From Rodfridsco.com

Zain Retherford, a junior at Benton High School in Columbia County, has been ruled ineligible in the sport of wrestling for the 2011-2012 season by a PIAA Board of Appeal.
The Board voted 8-1 in favor of upholding a District 4 ruling on Nov. 30 that ruled against Retherford, who had transferred from Line Mountain, where he was a PIAA Class AA champion at 103 pounds as a freshman, to Benton. Both schools are perennially among the top Class AA programs in District 4.
In November, District 4 held that Retherford’s transfer was “materially motivated” by Retherford’s desire to wrestle for Benton High School. That hearing, the second held by District 4 on the matter after the PIAA claimed a flaw in the district’s original August hearing, was closed to the public and the transcript of the hearing has not been released. As a result, District 4′s reasons for reaching its decision have not been disclosed.
The PIAA hearing was open, however, and it appeared Line Mountain’s case for challenging the transfer boiled down to Retherford’s relationship with Benton head coach Russ Hughes. Hughes, a two-time PIAA champion at Benton, is the head technician for the Benton Tigers Wrestling Club; Retherford had participated in the Benton Club in the offseason.
There has been no suggestions or allegations that Hughes played any active role in Retherford’s decision to transfer.

"Court documents indicate that Zain had testified that Line Mountain wrestlers were taught in practice to touch their opponents inappropriately and that the wrestlers would do this to one another, including Zain, during practice.
Court filings submitted by the Retherfords’ attorney quote the transcript of an interview with Line Mountain wrestling coach Mike Martz, in which the coach acknowledged that wrestlers may touch each other inappropriately and indicated that there is even a slang term for the practice.".
First Jerry sandusky wearing a wrestling jacket when arrested now this. This is hurting the sport. Thanks alot zain!

Wow a transfer was revoked because the wrestler was involved in an off season club run by the coach of the other school. I find this hillarious when Cody Wiercioch gets to wrestle for the club in CM and still gets wrestle in that same district. I guess it's all in who you know. The PIAA needs to have some consistancy with their rulings.

What are you talking about, Jim ackerly has nothing to do cm and cm has nothing to do with
Quest. So where is the similarity? I don't see it!

Jim has nothing to do with CM but all those kids that wrestle for CM and their parents have plenty of interest and influence. And you can't tell me that Jim didn't give his 2 cents on the subject. CM is his money maker. Come buy a house in our school district Mr. Wiercioch well get you a good price. You don't want to move to Chartiers Mr. Wiercioch there only a Double A school. Even if that was the truth which I doubt that he was going to move to CH. Finally, This is how you get your son out of Charleroi Mr. Weircioch follow our lead because CM is what is best for your son. What's the difference if it's the coach of the high school team or other influential members of the community? The same thing happened at two different schools and two completely different rulings were given. If your going to let one wrestle let them all wrestle.
