Hey Joe where do you come up with these rankings? I see they don't go off record. What do they go off of?

Blogger Joe Tuscano said...

There are a number of things I take into account besides record. I try to see as many wrestlers as I can for the eye test. I talk with others to get opinions on wrestlers I don't see and I look at the type of competition they wrestle. My opinion plays into it too. It's subjective but that's why they are called the O-R's rankings.

One final note. Usually I use Friday as the cutoff so sometimes a wrestler might beat someone Monday but it won't be reflected until the next rankings.

I don't copy and paste from the PG. But there are always going to be similar rankings at this point of the season because wrestlers have separated themselves from the pack. Want me to rank Gulibon second just to be different?

Joe, FYI - At 120 AAA, Penn-Trafford's Willie Bohince is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Gulibon lost by fall to Dean Heil, from Ohio's St. Edward's HS, in the final at Ironaman.

All of Chishko's matches have been recorded at 145 and Dobbin's at 152on the NWCA page. I'll check it out. As for Bohince, I normally leave a wrestler in for one week at least after an injury because I have seen some miraculous recoveries.

BTW, Gulibon is expected back for sectionals.

CM will have 2 state champs only and both of them are transfers. Schramm has a chance but very hard to do without wrestling during the season. Of course anything can happen and everyone has a shot. The real question is can they win the state team tournament head to head? It would be a shame to be ranked #4 in the nation and not be able to win your state. Hopefully they can get it done this year mainly so I can stop hearing about it

So sorry, I misunderstood the intent of this blog based on the title "mat matters". If appropriately titled, "canon mcmillan wrestling" you wouldn't get undesirable input on the rest of the teams and competitiors along with the occasional, god forbid, negative remark about CM. Its a shame the blog is dominated by some parents living through the sweat of their kids who wrestle, especially those who claim to understand so much when never having dedicated what it takes to be a wrestlers. It so simply to stand on the edge of mat and think you understand. joe, you've lost a lot of good poeple in this blog but you still have your blue and gold.

Poweraid was a thing of beauty...Vulcano silenced the CM rubes by inviting Blair Academy. I'm sure he was tired of hearing how CM would win it all this year, when they couldn't even muster a team victory at Tri-County. Is is true the Blair Academy coach made Chris Mary publicly apologize then take a 5-Minute timeout in the corner of the gymnasium in front of the already stunned CM faithful for not having his team better prepared?

Pray tell, I heard it a little differently. It is my understanding that Mr. Mary and the Blair Academy coach had a gentleman's agreement at dusk on that fateful day. Mr. Mary must divert his eyes and bow his head when passing a Blair Academy coach, wrestler, or fan, as looking directly into their eyes would be a sign of deep disrespect as this point.

maybe next year mr volcano will allow walk ons or at large entries to enter powerade so some of the schools with 1 or 2 mediocre wrestlers can benefit from great competition. ( sure the janitors could use the help determining which lights are burnt out in the gymnasium) the end of season we will all unite in hershey and cheer all the young men onto victory no matter who they represent!

Hey Joe, Where do you come up with some of these rankings? Funny how the Post Gazette and Tribune Review have wrestlers ranked that are no where in yours! Get off the wrestlers you seem to concentrate so much on. There are alot of really good wrestlers from other teams. A lot of them deserve more credit then some of the CM wrestlers you have ranked!

No doubt Canon-Mac has an exceptional team, but...

"#1" Delusional...

Not Powerade...

(Except for lifelong Charleroi resident, Wiercioch)

Not Tri-County...

(2nd and 3rd at best recently)

In the nation, #7.

#1 in recruiting to assure one of only two champions at Powerade.

Your #1 Wrestler was #1 at Charleroi, too. He is good regardless of Canon-Mac. Just remember you were his #2 choice...As reported by Tuscano, the family wanted Chartiers-Houston first.

Chris and his puppet assistant play the politics game! If your not in the kiss butt click your kid suffers! It is a shame and so obvious! Wake up people!

its not a team sport when they individually go to states. Chisko should be where he feels the strongest. And thats 145. Minotti gasses bad 3rd period and hasnt wrestled anybody to prove himself yet this year. And the couple bigger names he beat were by one or two points.
