Transfers column

Since transfers have captured much of the attention on this blog, I thought you might want to read a guest columnist from the Easton newspaper about Bethlehem Catholic.

Totally agree. I guess if you can't beat certain schools consistently (such as Connellsville, NA, Kiski, etc.) you take the recruiting path and then brag about yourself on internet blogs!

I wish CM and Beth Cath would merge and wrestle an exclusive schedule of teams from other states, countries and star systems. They would be called... The Golden McBig Hawks! The kids would get a superior education because their old schools academics, frankly, sucked and I'm quite sure every college wrestling coach in the country would love the idea because they could watch PA's best on one team. Talk about exposure! The only downside would be that they may not win every event they go to by a landslide or win at all. Of course that wouldn't be any fun. Its much more fun to round pound local schools that don't have their act together such as the Golden McBig Hawks do and criticize blog nay sayers by calling them jealous, talentless, cry babies. I for one am rooting for the Golden McBig Hawks because I know your time as a high school wrestler is fleeting as is being a parent of a high school wrestler. I also know that at 40 years old a good double leg is as about as useless as the life lesson learned by stacking the deck for a bunch of teenagers. Watch this sport long enough and you'll realize it's all relative. Just like the Honey Badger...I don't give a sh_ _! Build your teams, build your programs, teach your children well, take your vitamins and say your prayers for this is what the sport is all about.

9:18...Very witty and quite funny. I actually laughed out loud. I love the Golden McBig Hawks thing. Genuinely creative. I was actually sold until you ended with "Vitamins and Prayers". That was a little weird. What a difference a year makes. Last years "prayers" would have been answered with with a Cougard, Coug-Cat, or a Buc-ger. This year..."Vitamins and Prayers".

It's been a great season...Everyone is quite happy in AA land and really not paying any attention to AAA and Vice-Versa, i'm sure. So, relax. If you are best of best, expect some barbs.

High school time is fleeting, indeed, and, amazing opportunities abound.

Wait a minute here I didn't think Cannon Mac was a catholic school. Apples and oranges my friend. They still need to win the outright tourny first before we can officially get our panties in a bunch. Who cares! Talk wrestling JOE. Again writing crap for the ratings. I guess the media never killed JOEPA either it was lung cancer. I hate journalism for ratings.

Some people just can't get a life . 9-18 instead of the crying and wasting time moaning and complaining you should have been spending the time with your kid. .Maybe getting him better. Or if you're a kid maybe a little conditioning on the mat instead of running your mouth . All in all it's the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over . Jealously has taken the blogs over again .

Joe, Does Canon Mac have a Football Blog? I tried ten times last fall to find one but failed in each attempt. Any assistance you could provide in directing me to CM Football information would be appreciated, this wrestling Blah, Blah, Blah, is getting quite boring.

Obviously, someone is trying to provoke me into commenting so here goes...

First of all, maybe you should just call me out on here (or in mat room) instead of trying to demean what my son (CM's 132#) has accomplished these last two years. Last year he was a 14 year old starter at 119 and accomplished 20 wins in a very tough weight in the WPIAL on a team that wrestles a very tough schedule including several matches against kids ranked in the state and nation. This year more of the same 17 wins so far at 132, a weight loaded in the WPIAL also wrestling the likes of Kagan Squire, Joey Dance , the worst he has done has been majored. All of this season he has battled injuries that would have had some weaker minded people sit out while he has gone out and did what was asked of him time and time again.

Canon McMillan remains a powerhouse as they have been with him in the lineup and will continue to be! When I started coaching 15 years ago at his birth, I wanted to help create a similar atmosphere to what I experienced as a wrestler in Canon McMillan in the 90's (3 Team WPIAL Championships, 1 Team PIAA Championship), I cannot tell you how happy I am that not only is he and his teammates experiencing the joy of being the best at what they do but they are even in the midst of far surpassing the accomplishments of the teams of the 90's and perhaps of all time in Canon McMillan's illustrious and storied wrestling tradition 80+ years in the making! I am very proud of my son, his teammates, the coaches, the parents and all involved in what is currently going on in our school district and in particular the wrestling program.

I realize that when you are on top others always want to see your fall and because we have often been on top, often people have wanted to see our fall. But, I tell you this I would rather be a part of the best team that everyone hates or envies or even just strives to become then to be one of the many others always looking up and wishing. And for the record when we were the team not on top, a few of us got together and have worked extremely hard for over a decade now to get us where we are today because we believe the answer to everything is to work harder! With the good fortune of several parents and student/ athletes buying into what we were working towards you have the team that stands before you today! Without a doubt the dominant team in the WPIAL and now one of the most consistent in the PIAA ranks and finding itself creeping back into the recognition of the National ranks as they were in the 90's. The program is continuing to work even harder then ever these days in the hope of attaining even loftier goals by the end of the decade!

So let the bashing of myself begin, I am used to it. But, I urge you to leave any demeaning of ANY and ALL children out of it because they read these blogs also and have enough on their plate with school and sports and everything else that comes down the pike at them during their developmental years.

May the WPIAL continue to prosper and best success to all the young student/ athletes out there just doing their best. Do not let the jealously of adults affect you in any way because they never have tasted success in the ways you have simply because they have never worked as hard as you have and if they had they certainly would not make such immature anonymous comments.

Get over yourself Krezalick. If you want to have your son in the lineup that fine. Don't try to justify what you do. You are long on wind, little on substance. I guess every team has there own Ed Ott. Sad. Oh well...

P.S. The early 90's are 20 years gone. Close your yearbook, turn off the "VCR", and put your "highlight tape" back in the dresser drawer instead of continuously reminding us about CM in the early 90's.

Good day!

Mr. Krenzelack,

I think this is the entire reason for the article. How would you or your son feel it Canon-Mac did go out and recruit someone to take your sons place. You see the recruits that you did bring did take a Canonsburg kid out of the line-up. Wouldn't be so great if it was your kid would it?

I think the Mc Big Hawk poster said that he doesn't care about the hybrid teams and to make your own team better. I think that's what was meant. But you still see the self conscience supporters bash the poster. That is text book existential guilt. Now back to wrestling. Has anyone seen a penalty point given for crossed head gear straps? It's in the rule book but have not seen it enforced in the WPIAL as of yet.

Wrastlin' talk
I would like to see the PIAA move to one division and eliminate the AA and AAA Classes. California and New York have great models to follow. This would make for one great state meet. Keep the team tournament in AA and AAA division for a state title but allow all Wrestlers to battle for an individual state title. This would minimize the effect the super teams have on winning the individual team title.

private schools need to have their own division as some other states do. this would take care of the recruiting problem and let the public schools compete on a level playing field.this needs to be done in all athletics. need proof....look at the finals in the state play offs, more private schools than public especially in both boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball and more.
just not right to "load up" and legally cheat....PIAA has no guts to make things right...its all about the $$$$ just ask the WPIAL.

For some maybe for most it has nothing to do with jealously. Grow up and quit using the lowest level of rationale. When you're in a league(WPIAL-PIAA) there has to be rules to keep the league intact. In competition you need just that, other teams to compete against. When inequality arises and it seems to be caused by breaking rules or skirting the intent of the rules of course people are going to get mad. If you honestly think the Charleroi kid moved to CM for anything other then wrestling you are a kidding yourself. The Big Macs have three powerful wrestlers that fit the same bill. It doesn't really matter if CM wins it is the inability of other teams to compete with a stable without transfers. That is the core problem here. When CM wrestles in the PIAA their stiffest competition will be from a mirror image team. This simply cannot be good for the sport. I personally think the statement about transferring your kid or moving to another state is about the dumbest BS I have ever read on this blog.
