Sites set for wrestling

Burgettstown and Peters Township will be the sites for two of the seven WPIAL Section Team Tournament events Wednesday.

In Section 1-AA, Burgettstown will take on Avella and South Fayette battles Ellwood City in the 6 p.m. semifinals. The winners will wrestle in the 7:30 p.m. finals for the section title. The losers compete for third place. Those positions will be used as seeding criteria for the WPIAL Team Tournament, which will be held the week of Jan. 27.

In Section 2-AAA, Peters Township drew Connellsville, and Mt. Lebanon meets Belle Vernon in the 6 p.m. matches.

Canon-McMillan, looking for its 14th straight section title and 35th in school history, wrestles West Allegheny in the Section 4 semifinals while Trinity takes on host Montour.

In the Section 2 semifinals, Bentworth wrestles host Derry and Jefferson-Morgan will battle either Yough or Jeannette.

Fifth-place matches will be held at seven different sites.

The top five teams advance to the team tournament.
