Rematch
Canon-McMillan will wrestle Connellsville in the WPIAL Team Tournament for the second consecutive season. Last year's dual meet was marred by a controversial disqualification of a Big Macs wrestler. That led to a swing of 12 points and allowed the Falcons to advance to the finals.
The disqualification caused an uproar because the incident appeared to be accidental, rather than intentional, even though the Connellsville wrestler was unable to continue because his head hit the gym floor. A rule, stupid as it is, allows for a coach to refuse to take the disqualification and allow the other team to get the points. C-M head coach Chris Mary felt that was the right thing for Connellsviile to do because he felt the hit that led to the DQ was an accident. But Connellsville coach Tom Dolde Jr. did not see it that way, took the DQ points and won the dual meet.
It will be interesting to see what happens when the two teams wrestle Saturday (1 p.m.) at Ringgold. If nothing else, that has added some flavor the dual meet.
