PIAA team tournament
The three competing WPIAL wrestling teams had mixed results in the first round of the PIAA Team Tournament. In Class AAA, Hempfield, which finished third in the WPIAL, lost to Clearfield, 34-33 on criteria tiebreaker. Connellsville got the traditional tomato can - the City League champion - and breezed past Brashear, 75-4. WPIAL champ Bethel Park had a bye.
In Class AA, Shady Side Academy, the WPIAL runner-up, downed District 10 runner-up Fort Leboeuf, 39-30. WPIAL champion Burrell had a bye.
