Hull has a slightly separated shoulder and is not wrestling. He competed in the WPIAL finals against Kiski but really only had one good arm. His wrestling season is over.

Ok Anonymous. I have tried very hard to not insult anyone on this blog, but Anonymous (February 15, 2010 9:16:00 AM) you are a complete Idiot! Don't comment on something and insult this guy if you do not know the whole story!

Here is the story as I see it.
Hull wrestles when convienient.
I can name 10 wrestlers right now with 'partially separated shoulders'. You can't see this injury on an X ray or a MRI. Do you realize this. The kid didn't want to wrestle. Why come up with a fake injury. You never heard of this injury when he was jet setting all over the country playing football. He would need to be healthy to play at W&J. How is he going to play at PSU against men when he can't wrestle boys in high school?

Here is the story as it is. who cares how you see it.Hull has choosen football over wrestling and is thinking long term. as for wrestling his intent and coach marys intent was to have mike wrestle during regular season and help win wpial title. thats exactly what took place. now go suck eggs!

You've got to be kidding me....

Mike Hull wrestles the TEAM portion of the season where glory is shared with teammates.

Mike Hull chooses (his own reasons) not to wrestle the INDIVIDUAL portion of the season where glory gained or lost is your own.

And somebody has a problem with that? From my seat, this is a great story of a young man helping where he can a bunch of teammates reach a TEAM goal.

Exactly WHAT is the problem? I could see complaints if the kid was shirking the team to benefit his own personal tournament run. I could see the comments if he turned his back on teammates only to bring glory to himself. This CLEARLY is not the case here.

And, for the record, Hull's presence at the Giant Center wouldn't have changed the outcome of either CM loss.

Hey Bob..Not sure if the electic is on yet over at WJPA but the team tourney is still going on. Not sure why you think we are in induvidual portion of the season. He is sitting out the team tourney.

To Monday, February 15, 2010 4:16:00 PM Anonymous:

The electric's been back on at the station since last Sunday morning. Hull wrestled in the WPIAL Team Tournament FINAL. He did not wrestle in the PIAA Team Tournament matches for the Big Macs. And, right now, today, the Team Tournament is over. It ended Saturday afternoon, about 2:45 pm for the Big Macs. And Mike Hull wrestling in the 11 am or 1 pm Saturday matches wouldn't have changed the end coming.

I don't know what "team tourney is still going on" where you are. But the WPIAL and PIAA Team Tournaments ended 53 hours ago.

The person who made the statement that Mike wrestles when it is convenient does not know Mike or anything about him. Mike wrestled with one good shoulder and competed with a wrestler who weighed 60 lbs more than him so his team would have a chance to win a WPIAL title. [knowing if he hurt his shoulder again it could put his Penn State football dreams on hold] This is how I see it--- Legendary effort!

In addition, using the fact that he could play in the two football games but not choose to wrestle is also idiotic. The shoulder was hurt in the last football game....not before it. This kid is one of the humblest and hard working kids I have had the pleasure to watch pass through CM and we've had some good ones.
You want to express an opinion that you feel he should put wrestling ahead of all else..fine that's an opinion but don't try to insinuate that there is a lack of charachter or even selfishness involved. Someone complained early season that Mary wasn't a tough enough "my way or the highway" coach because he was willing to let mike help the team out in the wpial team tourny, but not wrestle in powerade, etc. Hindsight suggests that Chris knew exactly what he was doing...thanks for having some intelligent common sense Chris!
Big Macs WPIAL Champs!

Mike Hull is an outstanding athlete, who gave his all...when needed! Which parent would have their son do the same? Risk his full ride at Penn State and future football career for a wrestling match? Well, parents....let's see what the future holds for your sons! CM is blessed to have a humble young man like Mike Hull!

Risk his full ride at Penn State and future football career for a wrestling match? How is that different than risking it playing in exhibition football games that mean nothing? You make no sense.

The difference is simple:

He suffered the shoulder injury IN the second football game.

He risked his future football career wrestling AFTER suffering the shoulder injury.

And he, along with his parents, made the CORRECT decision that the WPIAL Finals was the last time he was going to take that risk.

The choice to not risk the injury isn't debatable. I am debating that football is far more risky than wrestling will ever be.
Not sure that can't be debated.
If he didn't want to risk anything he would have been in Canonsburg for the entire wrestling season.

I think the difference is what is a meaningless football game to Anon was a huge honor for Mike Hull. The Army-All American game is the most prestigious high school game in the country. The USA game was representing the United States. Roger Goodell is a huge supporter of this game. Any high school football player would be honored to be a part of a football game that Rodger Goodell was involved in. Mike not only represented the USA he represented Penn State and Canon-McMillan in these games. Hardly meaningless. Good luck to Mike! Follow your dream!

I will agree that there are far more injuries in football than in wrestling. Most of the injuries in football come when your hit by someone when your not looking, this can't happen in wrestling because they is only one other kid you are competing against.
