Powerade notes, Day 1

Last year, it was Cody Wiercioch.
This year, it might be Solomon Chishko.
Wiercioch burst on to the wrestling scene at last year's Powerade Christmas Wrestling Tournament, winning the 152-pound title as a freshman and being named Outstanding Wrestler. Wiercioch went on to win the state title at that weight.
Chishko, a frehman from Canon-McMillan, made it to today's semifinals after a 3-1 overtime win against Brandon Choate of Blue Mountain, who finished third at 119 in last year's PIAA championships. Chishko wrestles Colton Fought of Benton in the semifinals.

Remember the name Chance Marsteller.
The freshman from Kennard Dale High School, near York, looks like Cary Kolat, wrestles like Cary Kolat and is trained by Cary Kolat. He breezed had a pin, decision and technical fall to make it to the semifinals against Casey Kent of La Salle College.

The best weight class in the tournament is 160, where Wiercioch, Burrell's Travis McKillop and Pittsburgh Central Catholic's Jason Luster are in the semifinals. Ouch.

Canon-McMillan's Colton Shorts is having a great tournament, pinning his three opponents in a combined 5:32.

Trinity was forced to withdraw from the tournament because some of its wrestlers came down with a skin irritation.

Waynesburg was ok with wrestling Trinity with skin disease, what is that saying? So all of our wrestlers have skin disease, even McWreath? Principal Snoke agreed with these decisions, but what about Robert Jones the AD.

Not true at all, the kids wanted to wrestle, especially Kyle McWreath. If you know him, you know he loves to compete. This was needed to heal the kids and protect the wrestlers of Powerade so they don't get it. Wise decision by the Coaching staff, oh and by the way they made the decision.

Heal from what? Then why was Snoke calling us at Waynesburg trying to cancel our match? Its a shame for McWreath sounds fishy to me!

Props to Mr. Marino. The last thing these kids need is a skin problem. You should be thankful he is watching out for the other kids. Shame on the school for not taking better care of equipment and facility.
