Well, the gap is getting large between Wiercioch and Kolat story...Nough said. Still a very good wrestler (B+) but not Kolat (A++). If you can't beat them...graduate them.

Two stupid comments from anonymous idiots. Weircioch will be back. He lost two matches in OVERTIME to a senior. Weircioch will graduate, and he won't be wrestling at Pitt-Johnstown.

If you are such a Kolat fan, remind us all how he faired at Penn State.

Hats off to the Bentworth coach Albert Thomas first time ever 3 boys went to states and placed. Demain went in on a tough weight class and placed he also had the quickest pin at 52 seconds. Gus took 5th and francis took 7th what a great turn out for a small town school. Good job boys!

ThePimp is not anonymous? Who is the idiot? I said “enough said” but I guess I will have to repeat...Thought CW is a good wrestler...still stand with the opinion that he is not Kolat. Kolat is arguably the best wrestler to ever be from W PA. And where did anybody say CW would not graduate? Pitt-Johnstown? Not a bad school at all for wrestling. Carlton Haselrig wrestled there. He is only in the National Hall of Fame for Wrestling and Carlton holds a unique wrestling record. He holds the record for the most NCAA Individual Wrestling Champion Titles – Six (6). This record will always stand because a of rule change within the NCAA. He is another great wrestler from WPA and also a former Steeler who became an All-Pro guard in the 90’s. Wrestlers can put colleges on the map like Kolat did for Lock Haven. You don’t just have to go to Penn State.

CW isn't the next Kolat, but i can tell you who is. Chance Marsteller.

Wow...compare CW to the one of the greatest amateur wrestler ever then criticize him when he loses two matches in overtime. Get a life loser. You must be the Burrell towel boy. Who cares about Haselrig except you? Straight out of the where are they now file. FYI: His football card is worth 18 cents right now. Do me a favor, when you are cutting his lawn this summer, ask him if Penn State has a better program than Pitt-Johnstown.

I'm pretty sure Mckillop is going to Pitt-Johnstown for one year then transferring to Pitt main after his first year. A lot of colleges do that stuff now.

Girty,
I am the Burrell Towel Boy - Thank You for point this out - State Champs of Team and Individual PIAA AA Wrestling. I will let you borrow 5 towels for each of your Chareroi wrestlers. Maybe I will throw an extra one in for next year if six people happen to go out for the team. Heck, your coach is even bagging it so I will keep it at five and not six. College Wrestling = Free College Education and if Johnstown is willing to offer it to McKillop ... good for him. Way to go AA PIAA 160lb State Champion you earned it! There should be rules against half teams - cry on those towels Girty. Great World Class Wrestlers are always above good programs - they can wrestle anywhere and win the NCAA. They don't need to go to Penn State unless they want to learn how to be a greens keeper and mow lawns at a golf course - Penn State actually does have the best program in the United States for Grounds Keepers. Funny you mentioned cutting lawns.

Put your mittens away kittens. Great finish to one hell of a rivalry.Controversial definitely comes to mind in this final meeting. Maybe you guys would be better to discuss the match itself instead of making ridiculous comparisons to a wrestler(kolat) from a far different era.Or what college is better. By the way my fellow Big Mac and brother from another mother Albert Miles won an NCAA TITLE while attending Pitt-Johnstown. Pretty good program.Hey anyhow both kids laid it on the line and i salute both of em for one hell of a 7 match rivalry Wierchoch and Mckillop thats enough said.

4:36 Burrell's star wrestler is going to Pitt-Johnstown, so it is now the center of the wrestling Universe. Delusional, indeed. I noticed the coach of the number two ranked Penn State Nittany Lions talking with CW on Saturday. I doubt they were talking lawn care. Maybe CW was saying "Thanks, but no thanks, coach, I'd rather go to Pitt-Johnstown where all the Burrell stars go."

Just my 2 cents worth. If Mckillop beat Weircioch 4 out of seven times and he is going to Pitt-Johnstown. How does this in any way make Weircioch a better wrestler because he talked to some recruiters from Penn State. To be honest I heard Weircioch isn't the sharpest tool in the shed so who's to say he will make it their as well. If you can get a good education it really doesn't matter what college you attend. Unless your going to college to learn how to compete in MMA. Get over yourselves. This is just a sport and has absolutely no bearing on where these boys will end up in the future. And yes I agree that Kolat is the better wrestler and his protoge Chance Marsteller will be the next best thing in Pa wrestling. Still would love to see Weircioch wrestle Marsteller just because of the Kolat comparisons. It Probably wont happen though. Marsteller's frame does't look like he will be wrestling not much more than 160 by his senior year while Weircioch looks like he could pack on some more weight. My advice to Weircioch is to build as much muscle as possible and wrestle the big boys. With his speed and quickness he would absolutely dominate.

I have been reading the above posts about Wiercioch, some of them are totally ridiculous. You are talking about a 15 year old who is a great wrestler. Remember he is only a sophmore and has two more years to compete. No one close to him has ever compared Cody to Kolat, the so called "fans" have done this to him. Cody is a honor student at Charleroi so the above post that stated that he is not the sharpest tool in the shed is completely wrong. Cody's record is now 78-4, he will be back next year and will be looking for his next state title.

ZedilyThis whole thing is ridiculous. Wiercoch has lost four matches in his career, all to the same kid who is also an excellent wrestler. Every one of the matches I have seen could have easily gone either way INCLUDING Saturday state championship bout. Both wrestlers are ranked among the NATIONS best. Each match they have wrestled has been an excellent match and probably the match that everyone wanted to see during that tournament. I don't know why anyone would talk negatively about either wrestler...it makes no sense. Rivalries like this one are what brings out the best in the amazing sport.

Even more ridiculous is the poor coverage Cody and the entire Charleroi team receives from the local Valley Independent. The kid wins in excess of 70 matches in two years and they show a picture of McKillop celebrating victory. Terrible coverage.

First off Honeybadger your probrably not from Canon- Mac, be that as it is Albert Miles went to C-M And won an NCAA title at UPJ. Your ignorance is forgiven. Second, You guys bicker like chicks. How many times do you need to be told they`re just kids. I would expect if you have a child in this sport or in any sport for that matter you wouldn`t appreciate none to much idiots talking down on them especially anons like most of you. These kids bust there buts more than most of you could imagine. The sacrifice and will that it takes to even do what somebody such as Cody wierchoch or Travis Mckillop do is insane. I appreciate the effort that these two put up against each other. Maybe you guys should to.

I absolutely feel athletes who make it to the State Qualifier should be tested for performance enhancers. With thousands of dollars in scholarship money on the line, athletes at the state qualifier level are supremely competitive, and, unfortunately may resort to these substances for any slight edge. Many of these substances are readily available, thus, the field of play should be kept level for those individuals who toil and strive to win the right way! These tests would guarantee that individuals who tested positive for stimulants should produce valid medical diagnosis or be subject to a 365 day suspension and forfeit any honors obtained. This approach has been used successfully in several states as deterrent to stimulant abuse and steroid abuse in high school athletics.

The state of New York agrees:
