To make a point, again

I get criticism for my criticsm of the WPIAL Team Tournament and the amount of teams they include and time it takes to hold. Here is an example of what drives me crazy. In our local Class AA matches, 18 of the 56 scheduled bouts were forfeits. For those of you who struggle with math, that's 32 percent of the bouts.

The team tournament is supposed to showcase your best talent. Is this the best Class AA has to offer? Why were these teams in the tournament in the first place? The coaches and wrestlers know that by forfeiting so many weight classes, they have little or no chance of winning.

If you want to hold the tournament, fine. Run the subsection tournaments on a Tuesday and begin the WPIAL Team Tournament on a Thurday and run it through the weekend. Cut the number of teams down to section champions or subsection champions and get on with it.

By the way, the crowd at South Side Beaver Monday was small. SSB had a good following but I counted eight fans sitting on the Keystone Oaks side of the gym.

So that is triple the number of people at a girls basketball game. I agree that there should not be 1 week off, from section finals and the start of the district duals.

The dirtballs from Greene County stole things from South Side's locker room during the preliminary round.
Way to represent your school and families!
Check you wallets when that team comes to town.

3 wrestlers did indeed do something stupid and yes they did give a black eye to our school, that still does not give you the right to judge the other wrestlers or the area. I always check my wallet when I go anywhere.

One match for stealing money from people - wow that is too tuff! They deserve a chance to compete in the individuals people! They worked hard at wrestle & lifting (wallets) this year. Give them a chance. But they did'nt really steal it. When they got catch, they gave it back. That's right, they barrowed the wallets & money...no that's it, they found them and were just try find the rightful owners of the money and wallet. Yeah lets go with that. Just make sure they are able to wrestle in the individuals. Let's make sure they don't show up in OR Police Beat column either - Just the next tournament.

The kids should be prosecuted, not wrestling. Get your priorities straight. Who care about wrestling when they might be in jail in 2 years when adults.

This team has underachived all year and this is no suprise. It all starts with the senior leadership and having James Miller quit 3 weeks into the season started the downfall, i would be shocked if they get anyone to states. With the all talent that they have in the room, they equally have just as much behavior problems with the kids.
