West Greene hires Bissett

Kory Bissett was hired as head wrestling coach at West Greene High School at Thursday night’s West Greene School Board meeting.
Bissett replaces Curt Hughes, who resigned in May. Bissett is a former wrestler for the Pioneers and now serves as high school physical education teacher.

Macri chooses Cornell

Dalton Macri, a two-time placewinner for Canon-McMillan in the PIAA Championships, has committed to Cornell University.
Macri was a runner-up in the 120-pound finals in Class AAA last season and was fourth at 113 as a sophomore.
Macri has an 86-12 career record and was third at last year’s Powerade Christmas Wrestling Tournament.
Macri is the second Big Macs wrestler to commit in the last month. Brendan Price will head to Pitt.

Lesko takes J-M wrestling job

The Jefferson-Morgan School Board Monday, following a nearly three-hour executive session, voted 7-2 to hire Mike Lesko as head varsity wrestling coach, a position he held for six years before stepping down in 2004 to spend more time with his children.
In 2007, Lesko returned to the sport as an assistant to Scott Rhodes, who resigned in April. During Lesko’s tenure as assistant and head coach, the Rockets had a 52-49 record, eight state qualifiers and one state medalist.
